Jayla’s log : gosh i wish it didn’t take so long to tell me the results. I mean I told nick I would call him or go round cos he was really looking forward to the results I hadn’t taken the test sooner cos I was scared what if I was pregnant. Mom had told me that Nick was going to be staying here for a couple days, which i guess is okay. Ive always gotten along pretty well with Nick. Hes probably the coolest 15 year old i know. I had been looking for them for a while because i had something i needed Nick to give Joe, but i couldnt find them. The only place i hadnt looked was Jaylas room, so thats where i went. I walked in but there was no one there. Where the hell are they!? I walked over to her bed and saw in the trash can....a pregnancy test? Now i really needed to find Jayla and Nick.

JAYLA’S POV
I had never been more scared in my entire life. I could barely breathe because of the smoke and my eyes were all blurry because of my tears. I just wanted to get out and go back to my house with Nick. At least i knew he wouldnt let anything happen to me. i looked across the room and saw the fire exit. How on earth could we forget that!
NORMAL POV
Jayla -- [gets up] Nick i found a way out! [hears a crash] Nick?.....NICK?!!!

There was a loud crash from Nick and Joes room. "Nick?" i waited a couple second but he didnt reply "NICK?!" i nearly screamed. I felt tears forming in my eyes and i ran to Nicks room. Nick was there laying on the ground, he had blood all over his shirt and shattered pieces of glass around him. i looked at the window near him, and it was broken. I guess he had tried to find a way to get us out. I kneeled by him and he grabbed my hand. He looked like he was in a lot of pain. And then i saw it, there was a bone sticking out of his leg.
I couldnt help but cover my mouth, seeing that made me feel sick. I dont kno what caused that, but i was pretty sure it was the result of the crash i had heard earlier. "Nick are you okay? Please say something" i heard my voice crack. Nick was barely moving, and i kept glancing down at his leg.
"Jayla..." my eyes shot back to Nicks eyes and he kissed my hand. "you have to get out" was he crazy! I wasnt going to leave!. I shook my head and he said. "STOP BEING SO STUBBORN!"
I flinched, i couldnt help it. He had never yelled at me before. i wanted to say something back, but the words wouldnt come out how could he expect me to just leave him here? i love him and i cant live without him. i felt his hand move to my stomach, and i remembered the baby. If i died it would mean killing the baby too. Not our baby, mine and Nicks. I started crying even more, i didnt know what to do! I was about to say something but Nick interrupted me. "Tell the baby i love it, okay?"
"you’ll be able to tell the baby yourself" i replied, knowing it wasnt true. But i wanted it to be true, i wanted Nick to be okay, we were supposed to look after the baby together! Everything had finally started to work out for me, for once in my life, and then this had to happen!
"Jayla you have to go now" i shook my head, i wanted to stay longer, i wanted to stay as long as possible. I held Nicks hand tight, and he pulled his hand away from me. i knew i had to leave. Nick pulled me closer to him and our lips met. I kissed him with all the passion i had, tears still streaming down my cheeks. I never wanted the kiss to end, but Nick pulled away. "Jayla you have to get out of here right now!" he wiped my tears.
NICKS POV
I watched Jayla leave the room and heard her step onto the metal latter outside the fire escape. I still cant believe we forgot about that. i didnt hear her going down the latter. i wish i had a couple more minutes with her, but as long as she gets out safe, thats all that matters.
I tried to ignore the pain coming from my leg as well as my arm, and all the smoke and heat was making that easier. I could barely think strait now, i felt dizzy and could see flames outside the door. I dont kno how this fire started, but it took a while to get to our apartment. Now thats its here tho its only a matter of minutes befor it spreads to this room.
All i could think about now was Jayla, how much i loved her, how much i wanted to have a family with her. and now none of that could happen. I wouldnt get to see my baby, or tell Jayla i love her ever again. I closed my eyes as tried to breathe normally, but i couldnt. The last thing i saw befor closing my eyes was the flames coming into this room.
Jayla’s log : I started to go down but I couldn’t do it I couldn’t just leave nick all on his own I grabbed my phone and dialled joe’s number.
Joe : Jayla ! oh my god! Are you in side

I tried pulling my self up but it was to hard .

I remembered the gas mask that nick had. I looked under his bed and I found it. I put it on nick even though he struggled. I told him I would be okay even though I knew I wouldn’t be fine I was chocking on the toxic fumes

Joe : my brother is trapped up there with his girlfriend and she might be pregnant
(then a huge explosion goes off)

Joe’s p.o.v
I was shocked. I was losing my brother and niece/nephew. And a good friend. Why did I tell them to go to the apartment? It’s my fault. And all they were doing was standing there hosing the apartment down. I had to do something. So I ran past the officers, and the fire fighters all the way up to the sixth floor, then I saw it.
A broken window
In my room
With blood on it.
Then I kicked the door down and went to run inside but there was no floor. i grabbed some wood and smashed the window in more. Then I tried to get inside. All I could see was nick, and he was bleeding. I grabbed my duvet and wrapped it round him I started smashing the walls to make a hole, when I finally had a hole I pulled nick outside and raced down the stairs to where lucas was.
Joe : lucas look after nick I’m going to get jayla
Lucas : please, joe , you need to find her
jayla : after the explosion the phone went dead and nick was dead so I got up and climbed down stair’s to get some tissue but there was still a fire in the bathroom downstairs and I slipped over… I had burnt myself so I dragged my self across the floor and hid in the cupboard so that I would have clean air.
Joe : lucas , I’m sorry I couldn’t find her
Lucas : (screams) she’s 15 for god’s sake. She didn’t deserve to die

( they watch a boy walk up to a house he knock’s on the door a few seconds later jayla opens the door and hugs him)

I had to get into town and find nick so I went down the alley and round by Denny’s I cycled in to the mall parking lot dropped my bike and ran into mother care where I saw nick. He was looking at a pram, I told him I hadn’t bought one yet then I saw joe and Kevin eating burgers in big boy. I ran toward them.

I was shocked. I was losing my brother and niece/nephew. And a good friend. Why did I tell them to go to the apartment? It’s my fault. i hated my self. i had just slapped my sister and reminded her of janelle. she was amy's best friend, and she got pregnant. she went through with the birth but she died in child labour. amy was so scared she was going to die when she had martha. she cried so hard when her waters broke. joe had to actually knock her out. amy and janelle had an argument about the baby. amy said that she shouldnt, janelle said that she could, amy tried to warn her, but janelle said it was wrong, and when amy got pregnant she wanted to get rid of it but janelle changed her mind. i left the room crying. i went up to my room. i heard amy and joe talking. i stood outside for about a minute listning to their convosation.
amy: joe she's too young
joe: well if she wants the baby then maybe we should let her have the baby.
amy: okay so what happens when she goes to collage? or when she's out partying and gettinmg drunk ?

i was glad that joe was defending me. nick would do the same. i looked out of the window to where nick was playing with martha and jamie. nick was great with kids, amy and joe came into the hall. i was about to say that i was gonna ask nick what he wanted when we heard a gunshot. we ran down the stairs. jamie was covered in blood and nick was just lying on the floor, martha was just lying there next to jamie. amy ran over to jamie and martha martha woke up and coughed up blood but jamie didnt move. when the ambulance got there they said he was dead. martha got shot in the leg and nick got shot in the chest. i couldn't speak. nick could've died. but he didnt. amy was crying into joe. she had lost her 3 month old baby. martha was crying aswell.
